Gonzaga earns 3 wins, Eastern Washington 4 wins at Spokane Indoor Challenge...

In Spokane, the Spokane Indoor Challenge on Friday night and Saturday saw Gonzaga sweep both the men's and women's distance medley relays, and an individual victory in the men's 800, while Eastern Washington got wins in four individual events, including both triple jumps.

In Friday night's portion of the Indoor Challenge, the men's team set a new program record in the DMR, running a time of 9:58.15. This was the first time a Zag team has ever ran the DMR in under 10 minutes. The result was the ninth fastest DMR time in D1 so far this season.

Gonzaga ran Ryan Mitchell and Tommy O'Neil on the 1200 and 400 meters sections of the race, while Hayden Roberts excelled in the 800 as all three men kept the Zags neck and neck with a tough Montana Grizzlies relay team. Logan Law anchored the team with a 4:11.57 1600 leg.

The Zags won the women's DMR with a team of Maria Taggi Padro, Greta Dani, Olivia Ferraro and Alexi Fogo, breaking the tape in 12:16.63. It's currently number 15 on the NCAA D1 descending order list as of Sunday night.

Hayden Roberts won the individual 800 meters with a time of 1:53.73, securing another win with a huge kick in the final 100 meters to pass two runners from Montana.

For Eastern Washington, Maddy Shekhawat (photo courtesy EWU Athletics) won the men's 60 hurdles final Saturday with a time of 7.88, after running an identical time in the heats. He finished second in the 60 hurdles on Friday at the Spokane Sports Showcase meet in 7.84.

Merci Migani won the men's triple jump with a bound of 48-10.75 (14.90m), while Madison Bond won the women's triple jump at 37-1.75 (11.32m).

Suzi Woodall won the women's pole vault at 13-0.25 (3.97m) to round out the Eagle winners, a day after finishing second in the event at the Spokane Sports Showcase.
