Central's Harris, and the WWU trio of Warren, Hamel & Nienaber hit top NCAA D2 marks at Boitano Invite...

TACOMA--Central Washington's Andrew Harris (photo courtesy CWU Athletics) and the Western Washington trio of Calahan Warren, Eric Hamel, and  Hannah Nienaber put up the best marks at the Ed Boitano Invitational Friday and Saturday at Baker Stadium on the campus of the University of Puget Sound.

Harris, a senior, threw a personal best 188-8 (57.50m) to win the hammer to take the GNAC conference lead, and the number 9 mark nationally in NCAA Division II.

"Very proud and excited of Andrew Harris who took 1st place in the hammer throw and is now the division leader. We are expecting and hopeful to see more wins like this throughout the year and through other events as well," said Central Washington head coach Kevin Adkisson.

The Western Washington duo of Calahan Warren and Eric Hamel went 1-2 in Friday night's 10000 meter run, with Warren taking the win in 29:55.17, and Hamel second in 30:17.34, currently the number 8 & 9 marks on the NCAA Division II descending order list.

In the process, Warren became the third fastest runner over the distance in school history, and became the tenth runner in conference history to break 30 minutes.

Viking senior Hannah Nienaber threw 149-0 (45.43m) in a meet that traditionally has great early season marks in the javelin. Her winning throw leads the GNAC and ranks number six on the NCAA Division II performance list.

Western Washington won the men's team competition with a score of 266 points, with Central Washington second at 140, and Saint Martin's third with 85 points.

In the women's team competition, Central Washington took the title with 154, while Western Washington (138) and Seattle Pacific (127) finished second and third.

STANOVSEK CLOSES OUT RALEIGH RELAYS FOR HUSKIES WITH PR AT 800M...

In Raleigh, North Carolina, Washington senior Mick Stanovsek doubled back today and set a big PR over 800-meters, wrapping up a great outdoor opener for the All-American and highlighting the final day of the Raleigh Relays for the Huskies.

Stanovsek took second overall in the 800-meters today in a time of 1:48.16. That was a PR of nearly seven-tenths of a second, and moves him into the Husky outdoor top-10 list at No. 8. Redshirt freshman Daniel Maton also ran the 800m today, coming across in 1:51.87.

On the women's side, Marlena Preigh, Katie Rainsberger, and Sophie O'Sullivan all ran 2:09 times. Preigh went 2:09.12, Rainsberger clocked a 2:09.19, and O'Sullivan ran 2:09.88.
