NCAA announces field of accepted entries for indoor championships in Fayetteville next week...

INDIANAPOLIS--The NCAA released Tuesday evening the accepted entries for next weekend's NCAA Division I indoor track and field championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The University of Arkansas will host the NCAA indoor championships March 11-13 at the Randal Tyson Track Center. This is a closed event, and fans will not be allowed; however, ESPN3 will stream the event, and will air the meet on ESPNU on March 14th at 9pm, eastern on March 14th.

Washington State University will have four entries in the championships, while the University of Washington will proceed to Fayetteville with six individuals and a women's distance medley relay team,

The Cougars are led by Colton Johnsen (photo by Paul Merca), who is entered in the 3000 and 5000, despite being the only runner in the top 12 of the NCAA descending order list in the three distance events--mile, 3000 and 5000.

Also entered for the Cougs are miler Zach Stallings, 60 meter hurdler Sam Brixey, and triple jumper Charisma Taylor.

Washington's entries include Sam Tanner in the mile, Andrew Jordan in the 5000, Jonah Wilson in the shot put, and Jayden White in the 35-pound weight throw.

The Huskies will have throwers at the NCAA indoors this season for the first time since Elisa Bryant in 2009 and the first men in the field since Ben Lindsey in 1998.

On the women's side, Washington's two individuals are Katie Rainsberger in the mile, and Allie Schadler in the 3000.

Schadler is part of the distance medley relay pool that includes Madison Heisterman, Marlena Preigh, Kelly Makin, Haley Herberg & Olivia Ribera.

Among other notable athletes with Washington ties qualified for the NCAA indoor championship meet are Woodinville native Olivia Markezich from Bear Creek School, who is representing Notre Dame in the 3000 meters, and UW graduate Angel Nkwonta, who is competing as a grad student at the University of Maryland in the shot put.
