The Parker Bowden show continues...Eagle hurdler breaks school record again!

SPOKANE--
As the late ESPN SportsCenter anchor Stuart Scott would say, "he's like butter...on a roll!"

Six days after breaking the Eastern Washington school record in the 110 hurdles at Oregon State, Parker Bowden (photo courtesy EWU Athletics), did it again Friday afternoon at the Whitworth Essential Invitational hosted by Whitworth University at Boppell Track.

Bowden took the school record of 13.90 down to 13.89, winning the race convincingly over Idaho's Ben Doucette, who was a thorn in Bowden's side in the 2020 indoor season.

Pending the results of other meets around the country this weekend, Bowden's 13.89 remains the second fastest time on the NCAA Division I descending order list.

Before the sport shut down because of the pandemic, Bowden and Doucette went head-to-head five times in the 2020 indoor season, with Doucette winning four times.

Doucette, a former Big Sky 60 hurdles champ, ended up running 14.31.

On the day, Eastern Washington athletes won eleven events, while Gonzaga got their lone win from Liz Hogan in the 5000m (17:01.84), and Washington State got their lone win from Maelyn George in the javelin (141-2/43.03m).

Complete results of the Whitworth Essential Invitational are available here.
