FALCON WOMEN PLACE FOUR IN TOP TWENTY AT ASH CREEK PRESERVE XC MEET...

In Monmouth, the Seattle Pacific women's team, which was missing several runners, placed four runners in the top twenty at the Ash Creek Preserve XC Collegiate meet late Friday afternoon on the campus course at Western Oregon University.

The Falcons were led by Annika Esvelt's third place finish in 14:13 over the 4k course, followed by Ellie Rising in fourth at 14:30.

Kelsey Washenberger was seventh in 14:41, followed by Nicki Yorges in 16th at 15:06.

The nationally ranked Falcons were scheduled to open last week at the Puget Sound Invitational, but had several athletes nursing minor injuries, so the women's team elected to open the 2021 season a week later. The Falcons did not field a complete team, so they didn't factor into the team scoring.

Luz Garcia of Western Oregon was the individual winner in 14:00. George Fox won the team title with 29 points.

In the men's 6k, Seattle Pacific was led by Colin Boutin's 11th place finish in 19:08. He was followed by Jon Owen in 30th at 19:39, Ben Sheirbon in 34th at 19:56, Gabe Endresen in 55th at 20:33, and Isaiah Archer in 78th at 21:48.

Keanu Daos of Western Oregon won the race in 18:23, while George Fox completed a sweep of the team titles with 36 points.

Seattle Pacific finished fifth with 146 points.
