Finally...Dillon Maggard comes home to the Brooks Beasts!

"Finally (long dramatic pause). The MAGG has come BACK (another long dramatic pause)! Home!..."

With apologies to The Rock, the Brooks Beasts announced that Lake Washington HS alum Dillon Maggard (Paul Merca photo) is returning for another stint with the team.

Maggard, a native of Kirkland, left the squad after the 2019 season and signed with Hoka, while training in Logan, Utah under his Utah State University coach Artie Gulden.

During his time in Logan, Maggard competed in his first-ever Olympic Trials for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which were pushed back a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Maggard placed 19th in the finals of the 10,000 meters (28:52.38) and made the semifinals of the 1,500 meters (3:45.91).

Last year, Maggard, who ran without a sponsorship deal, finished second at the USA Cross Country Championships in San Diego, and made the US national team in the 3000 for the world indoor championships in Belgrade, where he was ninth in the finals.

Maggard, who missed a spot on the world championship team by finishing fourth in the US 10000m championships at the Nike Prefontaine Classic in late May, finished second at the NACAC championships in the Bahamas.

Maggard makes his Brooks Beasts return on Saturday when he competes at the USA Cross Country Championships in Richmond, Virginia.

According to Brooks Beasts coach Danny Mackey, Maggard will return to the Seattle area to train with the squad.
