Cougs, Eags, and Zags gain wins at Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open in Moscow...

MOSCOW, Idaho--
Eastern Washington earned four wins, Washington State got three wins, and Gonzaga earned a victory as the two-day Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open concluded Saturday on the brand new Lauren McCluskey Track at the Kibbie Dome, hosted by the University of Idaho.

Seattle Pacific grad and All-American Renick Meyer (photo courtesy WSU Sports Information) got the ball rolling for the Cougars with her win in the pentathlon. The WSU graduate student, using her final year of eligibility, scored a personal best 3464 points, eclipsing her previous best of 3305, set four years ago.

Meyer won the 60 hurdles (8.96) and the long jump (18-8.5/5.70m), and stayed close enough to Montana's Brooke Stayner in the 800 (2:27.35 to Stayner's 2:23.20) to take the title by seven points.

The Cougars got their other two wins Friday, as Gilana Woolman won the women's long jump with a best of 19-5.25 (5.92m), beating out teammate Anna Rodgers, who went 19-4 (5.89m).

Alex Payne got the win in the women's weight throw with a toss of 57-0 (17.37m).

Alexander Grimes of Eastern Washington got the first of their four wins Friday, taking the men's weight throw title with a toss of 60-1 (18.31m), as teammate Bradley Fillis took second at 54-3 (16.54m).

Zach Klobutcher won the men's pole vault in a personal best 17-1 (5.21m) Friday, and Savannah Schultz captured the women's crown with a third attempt clearance of 12-10 (3.91m).

Noah Hasselblad finished the day by winning the men's 3000 in a time of 8:28.13.

With Gonzaga only sending their women's team down from Spokane, their lone win came in the 3000, as three-time NCAA cross country championship qualifier Kristen Garcia won the race in a school record 9:30.61.
