Top-eight Paris Olympic finishers who have competed at Dempsey Indoor...

As we’ve done for both the Rio and Tokyo Olympics, paulmerca.blogspot.com has compiled a list of athletes who finished in the top eight at the Paris Olympics that have competed at the Dempsey Indoor.

The list is headed on the men’s side by three-time Olympic shot put champion Ryan Crouser (photo courtesy World Athletics); double gold medalist Rai Benjamin in the 400 hurdles and 4 x 400 relay; and Cole Hocker, the winner of the 1500 from Team USA; and, the bookends of Canada’s winning 4 x 100 meter relay team—leadoff leg Aaron Brown and anchor Andre DeGrasse.

The women were led by marathon champion and 5000/10000 bronze medalist Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands; Canadian hammer champion Camryn Rogers (photo courtesy World Athletics); US discus champion Valarie Allman, and 4 x 100 relay champ Twanisha “Tee Tee” Terry, who also was fifth in the 100 meter dash, on the women’s side.

The point of this list is to demonstrate that the Dempsey is one of the best indoor track and field facilities in the United States and that it offers great competition for those who aspire to run, jump, and throw at the highest levels of the sport.

The 2025 Dempsey Indoor season opener traditionally falls on the second Saturday of January, which is the 11th. As always, please consult with the University of Washington's track and field website for updated information as the season gets closer.

While the track might be nice, spectating there isn't so great as everyone is crammed on the in-field. Mainly because the track goes right up to the exterior wall, the Podium in Spokane or the Kibby Dome in Idaho was a nicer venue.
