SeattleU women finish sixth at Western Athletic Conference champs...
RIVERSIDE, California--Seattle University's Emily Harris (Paul Merca photo) was the top Redhawk performer Saturday at the Western Athletic Conference cross country championships hosted by Cal Baptist at the UC Riverside Agricultural Operations course.
Harris finished 34th in the 6k race to lead SeattleU, as the Redhawks finished sixth in the 13-team championship meet, scoring 192 points.
Harris, who finished 13th in the 2020 meet contested in February at Seattle's Jefferson Park Golf Course, stopped the clock in a time of 22:04.
Following Harris were Rowan Cuadrado in 37th at 22:14, Abby Smith in 40th at 22:25, Ellie Postma in 45th at 22:31, and Fiona O'Leary in 46th at 22:34.
Irene Rono of Abilene Christian won the race in 19:45, while Utah Valley won the team title with 34 points to edge out host Cal Baptist, who scored 41 points.
In the men's 8k, it was a rough go for SeattleU, as they finished twelfth with 319 points.
Freshman Guiliano Scasso was the top finisher for the Redhawks, placing 59th in 25:45. He was followed by Alex Franklin in 66th at 26:06, Ansel Pendley-Griffin in 68th at 26:12, Jay Grant in 70th at 26:17, and Matthew Holme in 81st at 26:45.
Defending champs Cal Baptist scored a perfect 15, led by winner Florian LePallec, who crossed the line in 23:19.
