Vikings drop seven spots, but remain in USTFCCCA Division II national top 30...

NEW ORLEANS--Although the Western Washington men's cross country team dropped seven spots in the latest USTFCCCA Division II national rankings, the Vikings (photo courtesy WWU Athletics) managed to stay in the national top 30 in the latest poll released Wednesday.

The Vikings dropped to number 28 from 21 as one of the two teams from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in the poll, as GNAC champions Simon Fraser are the only other team from the conference in the national top 30, coming in at number 24.

The panel was not kind to Simon Fraser, as they dropped two spots in the national rankings from number 22.

The nation's top five men's teams in Division II are in order: Grand Valley State, Colorado School of Mines, Adams State, Augustana (SD), and Wingate.

GNAC champ Simon Fraser is the only team in the conference in the women's national top 30, coming in at number 8, up one spot from the last poll.

The top five women's D2 teams are in order: Adams State, Grand Valley State, Augustana (SD), Colorado School of Mines, and Lee (TN).

The Division II schools are off this weekend, with the NCAA regionals contested next weekend. The West regionals will be held on November 6th in Monmouth, Oregon hosted by Western Oregon University.
