Light cross country schedule this weekend as Saint Martin's opens & Seattle Pacific races...

This weekend's cross country schedule is fairly light, with none of the Washington Division I schools in action this weekend, and only two of the Division II schools racing.

Friday afternoon, Saint Martin's opens their season in Monmouth, Oregon, as Western Oregon hosts the Ash Creek Collegiate meet on its campus course.

The meet starts at 5:15 pm with the women's 5k, with the men's 6k going 30 minutes later.

Cassidy Walchak-Sloan (SMU Athletics photo), who was Saint Martin's top finisher at the GNAC championship meet, is expected to compete Friday.

Among the teams that the Saints will compete against include host Western Oregon, and defending GNAC champions Simon Fraser, both of whom are opening their 2022 campaign.

Both the Simon Fraser men and women are picked to repeat as champions in the GNAC Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll, while Saint Martin's is projected to finish sixth on the women's side, and seventh on the men's side.
