Josh Kerr among top entries in Sunday's New Balance Fifth Avenue Mile...

As the professional season winds down  New York, six runners with Washington ties are entered in Sunday's New Balance Fifth Avenue Mile in New York City down one of the most famous streets in America.

The New Balance 5th Avenue Mile – the world’s most iconic road mile race since 1981 – stretches 20 blocks down Manhattan’s most famous thoroughfare and will feature one of the strongest professional athlete fields in recent history.

Olympic 1500 meter bronze medalist Josh Kerr (Paul Merca photo) of the Brooks Beasts is one of the headliners in the men's mile, which includes British countryman Geoff Wightman, the winner of the world championships in the 1500 in Eugene two months ago.

University of Washington volunteer coach Sam Prakel is in the field along with world championships team member Johnny Gregorek, both of whom are coached by Husky men's head coach Andy Powell.

Fresh off a win at the Monmouth Mile in New Jersey, where he ran a personal best 3:52.41, Washington State alum Paul Ryan is also entered.

On the women's side, Portuguese world championships team member Marta Pen Freitas is entered, as is Washington alum Eleanor Fulton, who ran a personal best at 3000 meters last week in Rovereto, Italy.

NBC Sports (KING5 in Seattle) will have live coverage of the New Balance Fifth Avenue Mile starting at 9 am Sunday.

In Zagreb, Croatia, Washington alum Gianna Woodruff and Washington State alum CJ Allen will close out their seasons at the Boris Hanzekovic Memorial Sunday.

Woodruff, who finished second in the women's 400 hurdles at the Weltklasse Zürich meet on Thursday, will run in a field that includes Jamaica's Janieve Russell and Russell Clayton, and Ukraine's Viktoriya Tkachuk & Anna Ryzhykova.

Allen will be in a field that includes fellow American and NACAC champ Khalifah Rosser, who finished ahead of him in Zürich.

Sunday's portion of the Boris Hanzekovic Memorial gets underway at 4:30 pm local time (7:30 am in Seattle). Flotrack ($) will offer streaming coverage of the meet.
