WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Seattle resident Sam Prakel fourth in Trials of Miles 1500 in Austin...

A handful of athletes with Washington ties ran at the Trials of Miles Texas Qualifier at St. Michael's HS in Austin, Texas Saturday night.

University of Washington volunteer coach Sam Prakel (#2371, Paul Merca photo) had the best result of the night, finishing fourth in the men's Olympic 1500 as part of a series of races designed to help athletes hit Olympic Trials and Games qualifying standards.

Prakel ran 3:38.05, as Syracuse alum Justyn Knight of Canada won in 3:36.52, just holding off Prakel's former training partner and fellow UW volunteer coach Amos Bartelsmeyer, who ran 3:37.01.

Washington State's Paul Ryan was eighth in a personal best 3:40.89.

In the men's Olympic 10000, Kirkland native Dillon Maggard was fifth in a time of 29:48.56, as Zouhair Talbi won in 28:12.41.

Despite the ideal weather conditions Saturday night, the humidity played a factor in several folks dropping out, as UW alum Fred Huxham and Club Northwest's Tom Anderson failed to finish the race.

On the women's side, Camas' Alexa Efraimson was seventh in the Olympic 800, running 2:03.28 in her attempt to hit the Olympic Trials standard of 2:02.50.

It was a tough go for Washington alum Eleanor Fulton, who was 12th in the Olympic 5000m, running 16:06.81 for 12th place.

Fellow Husky alum Lindsay Flanagan was eighth in the Olympic 10000, running 33:44.04.
