Husky women drop three spots to number 19 in latest USTFCCCA D1 ranking index...
NEW ORLEANS--The University of Washington women's track team remains among the nation's top 25 squads after the release of the USTFCCCA Division I national rating index on Monday.
Even though the Huskies were idle last week, they dropped three spots to number 19 in the latest index.
The nation's top five women's teams are in order: Arkansas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Texas, and USC.
Ranked teams from the MPSF conference include number 9 BYU, number 15 Oregon, and number 24 Arizona.
No schools from the state of Washington are in the men's top 25 this week.
Oregon, LSU, Arkansas, Texas Tech, and Florida State are the nation's top five men's teams.
USC at number 17 and BYU at 18 are the only other men's squads from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation ranked this week.
Washington's highest ranked individual according to the TFRRS NCAA D1 qualifying list is miler Allie Schadler (photo by Paul Merca) at number 5 at 4:38.08 from the UW Indoor Preview. The Huskies' distance medley relay team is still ranked number 2 in the country from two weeks ago.
Washington State has two athletes in the TFRRS D1 top ten in Sam Brixey, ranked number 8 in the 60 hurdles at 7.80, and Charisma Taylor, who is ranked number 9 in the triple jump at 43-7.75/13.30m.
Both Washington and Washington State return to action Friday and Saturday when the Huskies host the UW Invitational at Dempsey Indoor.
