NEW ORLEANS--Both of the University of Washington men's and women's cross country teams remained ranked inside the top ten squads in the nation as the USTFCCCA released its Division I National Cross Country Coaches' Poll Wednesday.
The Huskies were idle last week, and so both squads remained ranked number nine.
On the men's side, Brigham Young remained the nation's number one team, followed in order by Northern Arizona, Arkansas, Tulsa, and Stanford.
Stanford moved up seven spots to number five after a dominant effort at the FSU Winter XC Classic, hosted by Florida State on February 5th.
Other teams from the Pac-12 ranked in the national top 25 include number 10 Colorado, and number 13 Oregon.
Gonzaga, whose men's team has not competed so far in the 2020-21 season, is ranked just outside the national top 30.
The national women's top five includes in order: Arkansas, BYU, NC State, New Mexico, and Colorado.
Other Pac-12 schools ranked in the top 30 include number 6 Stanford, and number 27 Oregon State.
The Washington women, as well as both Washington State teams, will head to Las Vegas for Friday's Battle Born Collegiate Challenge, hosted by the University of Nevada/Las Vegas.
The Cougars and the Husky women are the only Washington NCAA Division I schools in action this week, as Gonzaga returns to action on Wednesday February 24th with the West Coast Conference championship meet in Las Vegas, and Eastern Washington heads to Riverdale, Utah on the 27th for the Big Sky Conference meet.
Seattle University hosts the Western Athletic Conference meet on the 27th at Jefferson Park Golf Course.
