Cougs' Ray Ray Wells & Sam Brixey continue winning ways at UCLA...

In Los Angeles, Washington State's Emmanuel "Ray Ray" Wells (photo courtesy WSU Athletics) won the 100 meter dash at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational Friday at UCLA's Drake Stadium.

Wells easily won his race in 10.40, with UCLA's Ismail Turner a distant second in 10.72.

In this scaled down version of the meet, the Cougars' Sam Brixey and Nick Johnson went 1-2 in the 110 hurdles, running 14.03 and 14.43, respectively.

Wells, Brixey and Johnson were the only Cougars making the trip to Los Angeles.

In Seattle, Grace Bley and Renick Meyer won two events each and also ran on the winning 4-by-100-meter relay, and Scout Cai also got into the win column twice in a dual meet against Seattle University Friday at West Seattle Stadium.

Senior sprinter Bley was first to the finish line in the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.34 and 26.10 seconds.

Multi-event senior Meyer took the women's long jump with a leap of 18-4.5 (5.60m, +2.4 mps) She later added the 100 hurdles in 14.81.

Meyer was the second leg and Bley ran anchor on the 4-by-100 relay, joining leadoff Jenna Bouyer and third runner Julia Stepper for a winning time of 47.79 seconds.

Cai, also a senior, was tops in the pole vault for the fifth straight time, clearing 10-11.5 (3.35m). She got over that bar on the first try, and that turned out to be her only attempt of the breezy & cold day. Cai also took the javelin at 115-4 (35.16m).

In the men's meet, Seattle University swept both relays, winning the 4 x 100 in 42.44, and the 4 x 400 in 3:35.70.

Friday's meet was not officially scored, which completely defeats the purpose of staging a dual meet. Had it been, using the dual-meet standards of 5 points-3-points-1 point for first, second and third places, and 5 points for the winning relay (second-place relays do not score points in duals), SPU would have won the women's meet, 63-34. The Seattle University men would have prevailed, 55-36.

It should be noted that not all events were contested Friday.

Complete results of the Seattle Pacific/Seattle University dual are available here.
