Eags and Cougs with strong performances at Whitworth Peace Invitational...
SPOKANE--Eastern Washington athletes picked up 13 wins on the day, while Washington State got four wins, Gonzaga three and Central Washington two wins at Friday's Whitworth Peace Invitational at the Whitworth Pine Bowl on the campus of Whitworth University.
The top marks on the day came from Eastern Washington grad and US Olympic Trials qualifier Parker Bowden (Paul Merca photo), who won the 110 hurdles in 13.98.
Jared McAlvey of Washington State won the 400 hurdles in a time of 51.66, which puts him fourth in the Pac-12 for the time being.
The Cougs' Suzy Pace jumped her way to first place in the women's high jump as Cougs claimed the top-three spots in the event. Pace won the event by clearing a season-best height of 5-7.25 (1.71m).
Bobby Say of Eastern Washington was a double winner on the day, taking the long jump at 23-4.75 (7.13m), and the triple jump at 49-6.5 (15.10m).
Katie Petsch (11.78/24.56) and Daniel Gail (10.65/21.52) of Eastern Washington were both double winners in the 100 and 200 dashes.
Gonzaga's Alyssa Bienfang (2:16.00), Wil Smith (3:50.27), and Emily Phelps (4:40.51) got the Bulldogs their three wins on the day in the women's 800 and both 1500s.
Roșie Melville (19:15.65) în the women's 5000 and Erica Cabanos (36-7/11.15m) in the women's triple jump were Central Washington's two winners.
