WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Igbonagwam & Eager shine in Ellensburg; Oregon Relays recap...

ELLENSBURG--
Eastern Washington athletes earned nineteen wins, while host Central Washington got six wins at the Central Washington Wildcat Invitational meet Saturday.

However, Seattle Pacific's Peace Igbonagwam (photo courtesy SPU Athletics) and Washington State alum Brock Eager produced the two best marks of the meet on a sunny day at the CWU Recreation Sports Complex, which will host the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship meet in a few weeks.

The Seattle Pacific senior soared a career-best 19 feet 8.5 (6.00m) to win the competition. In the process, she put herself tenth nationally on the NCAA D2 descending order list.

"It was so amazing – it was so good. I felt like a jumper again. I felt really good jumping, and it felt like I was back."

"I really think it did help just to have to focus on the long jump and think about how I was running and the runway," Igbonagwam said. "That helped a lot with the mental part."

Eager, a US Olympic Trials finalist last year, threw a season best 237-1 (72.26m) in the third round to put himself tenth on the US list for the moment.

Three athletes earned double victories Saturday, including Saint Martin's Josh Schulz in the long and triple jumps (23-6.5/7.18m & 45-11.25/14.00m); Eastern Washington's Garrett Peoples in both the shot and discus (54-3.75/16.55m & 161-3/49.16m); and Eastern Washington's Katie Petsch in the 100 & 200 dashes (12.03/25.05).
