The road to Eugene ends at Hayward Field for the NCAA champs starting Wednesday...
While there are a select few collegians competing in the meet looking to make a return to the corner of 15th and Agate for the USATF Outdoor Track & Field Championships in two weeks, and/or next month for the World Track & Field Championships, for the majority competing at the NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus, their season ends here.
The men will compete on Wednesday and Friday, while the women take to the Hayward track on Thursday and Saturday. The only exception to that is in the decathlon for men which goes Wednesday/Thursday, and the women's heptathlon, which is on Friday/Saturday.
The meet will be broadcast on a combination of ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPN3. Field events will all have dedicated live streams on ESPN3. Wednesday's action will be televised on ESPNU starting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday will be on ESPNU starting at 5:30 p.m. Action switches over to ESPN2 on Friday starting at 6 p.m., and Saturday will be all on ESPN beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The Washington Huskies go into Eugene with 16 entries (10 men, 6 women). The ten male entries are the most by a Pac-12 team, and tied for eighth most in the NCAA. With the six women's qualifiers, the 16 total Husky entries is tied for 16th-most nationally.
Washington State counters with six entries--three men and three women, while Gonzaga's lone entry in the national championships is James Mwaura (Gonzaga University Athletics photo), who runs in Wednesday night's 10000 meter final.
Other athletes with Washington ties entered in the meet include Trey Knight of USC in the hammer; Jacob Brueckman of Colorado State in the 1500; Colby Wilson of Montana State in the pole vault; Kemuel Santana of Florida in the 4 x 400 relay, and, Kenneth Rooks of BYU in the steeple.
On the women's side, athletes with Washington ties entered in the meet include Olivia Markezich of Notre Dame in the steeple, Ashton Riner of BYU in the javelin, Iman Brown (200) and Lexi Ellis (triple jump) of Oregon; and Taylor Roe of Oklahoma State in the 5000.
