Huskies start 2025 outdoor campaign number 15 in USTFCCCA D1 women's rating index...
NEW ORLEANS--The University of Washington women's track team, competing for the first time in the outdoor season as a full squad at the Stanford Invitational, enters the USTFCCCA Division I national outdoor track and field rating index as the country's number 15 team.
Leading the charge for Washington were Chloe Foerster (Paul Merca photo), who ran the fastest time in NCAA Division I in the 800, clocking 2:00.52, a day after winning the 1500 at 4:07.32 at the Stanford Invitational.
The latter mark is currently the fourth fastest time in Division I.
Also posting top ten marks over the weekend at Stanford were twins Hana and Amanda Moll, who cleared 14-8 (4.47m), and 14-4 (4.37m) in a 1-2 finish.
The nation's top five women's teams in D1 are in order: Georgia, USC, Texas A&M, Texas and Baylor.
Teams from the Big Ten in the national top 25 include number 9 Iowa and number 22 UCLA.
Both Washington and Washington State's men's teams stand outside the national top 25.
DIVISION II SEES BOTH WESTERN WASHINGTON TEAMS IN TOP 25...
Both Western Washington teams enter the top 25 in the USTFCCCA Division II national outdoor track and field rating index after strong performances this past weekend.
On the men's side, the Vikings come in at number 21, with top ten performances in the 5000 by Kevin McDermott, who ran 13:51.18 at Stanford in the 5000, which puts him sixth on the national D2 list.
They also got a top ten performance from Maurice Woodring, who ran 51.69 in the 400 hurdles at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla.
Pittsburg State, West Texas A&M, Grand Valley State, Harding, and Fresno Pacific are the nation's top five Division II men's teams.
Western Washington is the only men's team in the national top 25 from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Central Washington dropped four spots from number 8 to number 12 in this week's women's rating index, as most of the athletes who competed at either the Texas Relays or the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos the previous weekend either took last weekend off or competed in other events.
Western Washington made its national top 25 debut in this week's ranking, coming in at number 15.
The Vikings had top three national marks over the weekend from Kennedy Cook in the 400, who ran 54.09 at the Triton Invitational, along with Ila Davis (Paul Merca photo), who ran 10:20.91 in the steeplechase at Stanford.
The top five women's teams in Division II are in order: Grand Valley State, Pittsburg State, Azusa Pacific, West Texas A&M, and Adams State.
Central and Western are the only teams in the GNAC in the national top 25.
