SPOKANE--
Central Washington's women's 4 x 100 meter relay lowered their own Great Northwest Athletic Conference and school record Friday afternoon in winning the event to highlight action at the Jeff Rahn Classic hosted by Whitworth University.

The team of (from upper left/photo illustration courtesy Central Washington Athletics) Elise Hopper, Zoe Gonzales, E'lexis Hollis, and Ashlyn Nielsen got the baton around in 45.09, currently the fifth fastest time in Division II this season.

The Wildcats went into Friday's meet holding the fifth fastest time in the country at 45.15 from the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.

Central Washington, Washington State and Idaho were even through the first leg, then the Cougars had a slight advantage over the Wildcats going into the turn.

All-American E'lexis Hollis appeared to take off early, but managed to recover enough for her to get the baton from second leg Zoe Gonzales. Hollis managed to make up the distance behind Washington State's third leg, Zakiya Hill.

On the anchor, Wildcat freshman Ashlyn Nielsen ran down Washington State's Ashley Hollenbeck Willems to take the win in 45.09 to the Cougars' 45.24.

For Central Washington, the women's 4 x 100 meter relay victory was one of six wins on the day.

Wildcat freshman Josh Boast put himself in the conversation for a possible national championship spot with his victory in the men's 400 hurdles. Boast ran 52.72, which is the sixth fastest time in GNAC history.

Washington State earned 13 wins on the day, while Eastern Washington got two wins, and Gonzaga got two wins.
