NEW ORLEANS--
The University of Washington women's track team, which was idle last weekend, dropped two spots in the latest USTFCCCA Division I National Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index released Tuesday morning.

The Huskies, who were ranked number 14 after a strong showing at their outdoor season opener at Stanford, dropped to number 16 in this week's ranking index.

The nation's top five teams this week are in order: Texas A&M, USC, Georgia, South Carolina, and Arkansas.

Women's teams from the Big Ten in the national top 25 include number 14 Iowa, number 21 UCLA, and number 24 Illinois.

No Washington schools are in this week's national men's top 25.

The nation's top five men's teams are in order: Texas A&M, USC, Minnesota, Georgia, and Tennessee.


In Division II
, the Central Washington women's team moved up one spot from number 12 to number 11, while Western Washington dropped two spots to number 17 in this week's national rating index.

For the Wildcats, the two new marks in the rankings came from E'lexis Hollis (left/photo courtesy CWU Athletics) in the 200, who ran 23.71 in the 200 at the Jeff Rahn Classic in Spokane. That mark is the number 18 time in D2.

Hollis was the third leg on the Wildcats' 4 x 100 relay team that ran a school and GNAC record 45.09 in Spokane last week, which is the number 7 time in D2 this season.

While the Vikings dropped two spots in the national ranking index, their 4 x 400 relay ran a school record 3:40.87 at the Battle of Sparta last Saturday in Langley, BC.

West Texas A&M, Pittsburg State, Azusa Pacific, Grand Valley State, and Minnesota State are the nation's top five women's teams this week.

Other than Central and Western, no GNAC women's teams are in the national top 25.

Western Washington's men's team is hanging on to their national ranking, as they stand number 24 in the index, down three spots from last week.

The only new mark added was in the 4 x 400 relay, where they also ran a school record at last Saturday's Battle of Sparta in Langley, running 3:10.73.

Pittsburg State, West Texas A&M, Grand Valley State, Wingate, and Colorado School of Mines are the nation's top five men's teams in Division II.

The Vikings are the only GNAC team in the national top 25 this week.


WEEKEND ROUNDUP--BOTSWANA GRAND PRIX & AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS...

University of Washington alum Gianna Woodruff opened her 2025 outdoor season Saturday at the FNB Botswana Grand Prix in Gaborone, Botswana.

Woodruff, who has been based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, ran 56.74 to finish fourth, as training partner and former world and Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad won in 53.81.

In Perth, Australia over the weekend, Washington alums Ed Trippas and Mick Stanovsek finished third and fourth in the steeplechase at the Australian national championships.

Trippas ran 8:36.67, while Stanovsek was one spot behind in 8:37.34.

After winning her semifinal race in 2:02.84, Washington alum Carley Thomas  finished fourth in the women's 800 in a season best time of 2:02.65.

Fellow UW alum Izzi Batt-Doyle, who has been concentrating on the roads the past few months, ran 15:13.14 in the 5000 to finish sixth.
