BATON ROUGE--
Washington State 400 meter runner Grant Buckmiller (photo courtesy WSU Athletics) is the first athlete from the school's sprints, hurdles, and field event group to officially find a home after the school's decision to move forward with a distance-only emphasis starting with the 2025-26 academic school year.

Buckmiller will head to LSU with two years of experience done while with the Cougars. While at Washington State, Buckmiller recorded a personal-best time of 45.87 seconds in the 400 meters at the 2024 Pac-12 championships in Boulder. He also set the WSU indoor record with a mark of 46.22 at the Riverfront Invitational in Spokane in February.

He won the MPSF title in the 200 meters in 20.72 and was fourth in the 60 meters, to help the Cougars win the men's team title in February.

Buckmiller, a graduate of Lake Stevens HS, has also been a finalist at the USA U20 Championships multiples times, and competed for Team USA at the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships in the 4×400, where he won a relay gold medal.
