Pole vaulter Scott Toney sets yet another personal best in Chula Vista...

One set of results we completely missed over the weekend was the Maximum Velocity Athletics High Performance meet on Saturday at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.

For the second meet in a row, Washington's Scott Toney (Paul Merca photo) set a personal best in the men's pole vault.

Toney cleared 18-9.5 (5.73m) to win his second straight meet at the Chula Vista facility, eclipsing his previous personal best of 18-7.25 (5.67m), set on June 29th.

The UW grad student, who finished eleventh at the NCAA outdoor championships and won the Big Ten indoor title, opened with a second attempt clearance at 17-3 (5.26m).

After a miss at 17-9 (5.41m), he passed his two remaining attempts to go to the next bar of 18-1 (5.51m), which Toney cleared on his first attempt.

Colby Wilson, the only other vaulter remaining in the competition, missed on his first attempt at 18-1, then passed for two unsuccessful attempts at 18-7.5 (5.68m).

With the win in hand, Toney raised the bar to a personal best 18-9.5 (5.73m) which he cleared on his second attempt, then had three unsuccessful tries at 19-1 (5.82m).

In the women's pole vault, Washington alum Nastassja Campbell won over current Huskies NCAA outdoor champion Hana Moll and NCAA indoor champ Amanda Moll.

All three opened the competition with clearances at 14-0.5 (4.28m), with Hana needing a third attempt, while Campbell and Amanda Moll made on their second.

Campbell and Hana made the next height of 14-4.5 (4.38m) on their first attempt, while Amanda bowed out with three misses.

Both Campbell and Hana missed all three tries at 14-8.25 (4.48m).

The results however listed Hana as the winner instead of Campbell, despite needing a third attempt at the opening height.

NATHAN GREEN TO MAKE PRO DEBUT AT HARRY JEROME TUESDAY NIGHT...

Washington's two time NCAA 1500 meter champion Nathan Green will make his pro debut Tuesday night at the Harry Jerome Track Classic at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, just outside of Vancouver.

Nearly half of the field consists of Green's pro training group coached by Washington head coach Andy Powell.

The field includes Sam Prakel, who set a personal best Saturday night in Los Angeles, Eric Gibson, Joe Waskom, Leo Daschbach, and Sam Ellis. They'll go against Charles Philibert-Thiboutot and Jean-Simon Desgagnes.

Former Huskies Aaron Ahl and Kyle Reinheimer are scheduled for pacing duties in one of the meet's premier events, which starts at 7:56 pm.

Reinheimer is scheduled to run the men's 800 an hour earlier along with Justin O'Toole.

SOLOMON KIPCHOGE TRANSFERS TO WASHINGTON STATE...

According to a post on The Stride Report's Instagram account, Texas Tech's Solomon Kipchoge will transfer to Washington State, as the Cougars retool their program to a distance-focused approach.

Kipchoge, who has run 59:37 in the half marathon, was second at the Big 12 cross country championships, then won the Mountain Region title, then didn't finish at the NCAA championships in Madison, Wisconsin.

Kipchoge joins All-American Evans Kurui to form a solid 1-2 punch for the Cougars.
