Cougars' Kyler Little wins steeple at OSU High Performance Meet; Allen gets first pro win at Drake Relays...
CORVALLIS, Oregon—Washington State’s Kyler Little (left/photo by Paul Merca) and Amir Ado each picked up victories as a small group of Cougar distance runners made the trip from Pullman to compete in the Oregon State High Performance Meet at the Whyte Track & Field Center late Friday afternoon.
Little ran the 3000 steeplechase in a time of 8:56.41, a new personal best, to beat Henry Hayes from the University of Portland, who ran 8:58.49.
Seattle University’s Eli Boudouris finished fifth in 9:07.26.
Ado won the men’s 5000 in 14:26.05.
The Cougars’ Kaili Keefe, who was an NCAA qualifier last season, finished third in the women’s 1500, running 4:26.00.
In the men’s 1500, Washington State’s Justin Janke was second in 3:49.89, while Seattle U’s Jacques Hebert was one place behind at 3:50.11, while Isaac Barville of Eastern Washington took ninth at 3:55.22.

In Des Moines, Iowa, Washington State alum CJ Allen, running out of lane 1, pulled one of the biggest surprises in winning the invitational men’s 400 hurdles Friday night at the Drake Relays.
Competing against a field that included Olympians Jeffrey Gibson of the Bahamas, NCAA finalist David Kendziera from Illinois, and Federal Way native and Cape Verde Olympian Jordin Andrade, Allen took the victory in a season best 49.57, ahead of Gibson’s 49.92, Kendziera’s 49.97, and Andrade’s 49.99.
