Huskies' Olivia Gruver named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week...
NEW ORLEANS—Washington pole vaulter Olivia Gruver (above/photo illustration courtesy UW Athletics) was named by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as its NCAA Division I women’s athlete of the week.
Gruver broke the NCAA outdoor record in the pole vault at the Stanford Invitational last Friday, clearing 15-6.25 (4.73m), to break the previous mark set by Arkansas’ Sandi Morris of 15-5.75 (4.72m) in 2015.
This is the first time that Gruver has been named National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season. It is also the first time that a Washington Huskies’ athlete has earned the distinction.

USTFCCCA NATIONAL RANKINGS FINDS HUSKY WOMEN AT # 19
The Husky women’s squad moved up one spot to number 19 in the USTFCCCA national rating index released by the organization Monday.
The nation’s top five women’s teams are in order: USC, Arkansas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Oregon.
Other Pac-12 schools ranked in the top 25 are #12 Colorado, #13 Stanford, and #22 UCLA.
The nation’s top five men’s teams are in order: Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Florida, BYU and Alabama.
#8 Oregon, #18 Arizona, #19 Stanford and #23 UCLA are the only men’s teams from the Pac-12 ranked in the top 25.
