Huskies' Denham Patricelli rifles javelin 236-6 at National Relay Championships...

With only two weeks remaining before the various conference championship meets, all nine Washington Division I and II schools are in action Friday and Saturday.

The University of Washington’s sprinters, jumpers and throwers are in Fayetteville, Arkansas for the NATIONAL RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS Friday and Saturday, hosted by the University of Arkansas.

The Huskies’ Denham Patricelli (above/photo by Howard Lao) got himself on the Huskies’ top 10 list Friday with his fifth place finish in the javelin, throwing 236-6 (72.08m), while teammate Jacob Wachtendonk took seventh at 212-0 (64.63m).

With other meets around the country being contested this weekend, Patricelli’s throw places him second in the Pac-12 and tenth in Division I for the time being.

Onyie Chibuogwu won the women’s hammer, throwing 193-10 (59.09m).

The Huskies went 1-3 in the men’s discus, with Elijah Mason winning at 184-10 (56.35m), while teammate Jonah Wilson was third at 179-3 (54.64m).

In the women’s pole vault, Annika Dayton took the victory at 13-7.25 (4.15m), beating Oklahoma’s Mackenzie Shell on fewer misses.

The men’s pole vault saw Chase Smith take third with a leap of 17-8.5 (5.40m).

In track action Friday, the Huskies’ outstanding freshman Cass Elliott was third in the 400 hurdlers, running 51.02, another personal best.

Devan Kirk took third in the mens’ 800, running 1:50.37.  In the men’s 200, Evan Mafilas was third in 21.00, while Kemuel Santana was sixth in 21.09.

Also competing on Friday and Saturday are Seattle University, Gonzaga,Washington State, and Eastern Washington in Corvallis at the OREGON STATE HIGH PERFORMANCE MEET, hosted by Oregon State University.

Gonzaga is also sending for the first time a men’s 4 x Mile relay team to Philadelphia and the PENN RELAYS on Saturday.

A group of pros from Washington are running at the DRAKE RELAYS Friday and Saturday. Friday, Washington State alum CJ Allen, and Federal Way native and 2016 Cape Verde Olympian Jordin Andrade are entered in the men’s invitational 400 hurdles, while Alexa Efraimson is entered in the women’s invitational 1500m.

Washington State also hosts the COUGAR INVITATIONAL Saturday at Mooberry Track on the WSU campus in what essentially is an intrasquad meet, with Lewis-Clark State and Spokane Community College entering a number of athletes.

Washington State alum Alissa Brooks-Johnson, last year’s Pac-12 champ in the heptathlon, is entered in several events, while Katie Nageotte is entered in the women’s pole vault.

Finally, all four of Washington’s Division II schools are gathered in Bellingham for Saturday’s RALPH VERNACCHIA TRACK & FIELD MEET at Civic Stadium, which is the penultimate regular season meet, with only next week’s Ken Shannon Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington, remaining before the GNAC championships in two weeks.

The women’s javelin is one of the meet’s feature events, as Western Washington alums and former All-Americans Bethany Drake (left/photo by Paul Merca) and Katie Reichert return to Bellingham.
