Dillon Maggard sets personal best in finishing third at Hoka One One Long Island Mile...
In Bay Shore, New York, Dillon Maggard (left/photo by Paul Merca) of the Brooks Beasts finished third in the men’s invitational mile at the Hoka One One Long Island Mile Wednesday night.
Maggard, a native of Kirkland, dropped down in distance from the 5000 and 10000 to tackle the mile, and ended up running 3:57.76, a personal best, as University of Wisconsin alum Morgan McDonald won in 3:54.63.
Maggard’s Brooks Beasts teammate David Ribich finished seventh in 3:58.63.
In the women’s race, Katie Mackey of the Beasts finished third in 4:33.28, as Amanda Eccleston won in 4:32.58.
Washington alum Eleanor Fulton was seventh in 4:35.70.
Many of the runners competing at the Hoka One One Long Island Mile will move on to run in Sunday’s Fifth Avenue Mile on the streets of New York City.
