Both Husky squads maintain number 3 rankings in latest USTFCCCA coaches' poll...

NEW ORLEANS--Both of the University of Washington cross country teams maintained their number 3 national ranking in the first USTFCCCA in-season national poll released Tuesday.

Defending national champion Colorado, the pre-season #1 ranked team, remained number 1, followed by the 2017 national champs New Mexico.

Other Pac-12 teams ranked in the national top 30 include number 8 Stanford, number 10 Oregon, number 24 UCLA, and number 26 Utah.

On the men’s side, there are no changes from the pre-season poll, as the top five teams remain, in order: defending champion Northern Arizona, BYU, Washington, Colorado, and Iowa State.

Other Pac-12 teams ranked in the national top 30 include number 7 Stanford, number 11 Oregon, and number 23 UCLA.

The Husky men travel to Boston for Friday’s Battle in Beantown, while the women get their first look at the NCAA national championship course Saturday at the John McNichols Invitational hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute.

QUALIFYING STANDARDS FOR NEXT YEAR’S OLYMPIC TRIALS ARE NOW AVAILABLE…

USA Track & Field released the qualifying standards for next year’s US Olympic Track & Field Trials at Eugene’s Historic Hayward Field June 19-28.

The qualifying period opened May 1st, and runs through Sunday June 7, 2020. For collegians looking to earn an automatic qualifying mark for the trials, they will not be able to, as the NCAA Division I championships in Austin, Texas will be June 10-13th.

In the event that there are not enough automatic qualifiers, additional verified entries from the rank order list of those who have entered and declared shall be invited to participate in the Trials only to the extent that the indicated field size has not been filled by those with the “Automatic” standard.

An invitation will be extended to these additional persons based on verified entries in their performance rank order. Keep in mind that athletes must have the Olympic Games standard by June 28th, which is in many cases tougher than the Olympic Trials standard.

The qualifying standards are posted below. The full details are available through the USATF site, which is available here.
