Husky split squad finishes fifth at Battle in Beantown...

JAMAICA PLAIN, Massachusetts—The Washington Huskies, the nation’s number three ranked men’s team, finished fifth at the Battle in Beantown cross country meet at famed Franklin Park Friday.

The Dawgs, coming off their training camp in Leavenworth, and leaving several runners at home, including their entire freshman class and All-American Tibs Proctor, were led by 2018 Pac-12 runner up Talon Hull (left/photo by Paul Merca), who finished third over the 8k course in 24:20.

He was followed by Jack Rowe, the University of San Francisco graduate transfer, who finished in twelfth at 24:44. Third across the line was Iowa State transfer Andrew Jordan, who was 26th in 24:54.

Julius Diehr finished 49th (25:19) and redshirt freshman Isaac Mohn was 68th (25:34) to round out the Husky scorers. Mick Stanovsek (99th, 26:02) and Nick Laccinole (124th, 26:28) completed the lineup.

Kieran Tuntivate of Harvard took the victory on a hot and humid day just outside of Boston, running 23:58.

Syracuse, the nation’s #13 ranked team, took the team title with 64 points, followed by Army with 91 points, Stony Brook with 129, Harvard with 151, and the Huskies with 156 points.

A number of Huskies will make their season debuts in two weeks' time at the John Payne/Curtis Invitational in University Place, Wash. at Chambers Bay.

The Washington women will compete at Saturday’s John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana after coming off three weeks of altitude training in Colorado Springs, beginning at 9:45 am, local time (6:45 am in Seattle).
