Ken Shannon Invitational a last chance meet for host Huskies, SeattleU & GNAC schools...

The University of Washington hosts the Ken Shannon Invitational Friday at Husky Track to mark the end of the home track & field season.

With the conference championships looming next weekend, the Ken Shannon meet is essentially a last chance meet to convince the coaches that they should be on the team's roster for the championship meet.

Besides the host Huskies, the meet consists of teams from Seattle University, and all four Washington GNAC schools--Central Washington, Saint Martin's, Seattle Pacific, and Western Washington.

Action gets underway at 10 am with the women's hammer, with the last field event starting shortly after 2 pm.

The first running event, the women's 4 x 100 relay, gets underway at 2:20 pm, and ends with the men's 200 at 3:55 pm.

Washington is only allowing a very small number of athlete guests inside Husky Track.

Upon the conclusion of the meet, the UW will hold a presentation recognizing its graduating senior class, including Dustin Nading (#2355/photo by Paul Merca), who is entered in both the 800 & 1500.

Several events feature at least three athletes ranked in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference top ten, which will make for an exciting preview of next week's GNAC championship meet in Monmouth, Oregon.
