Katie Nageotte wins Doha stop on Wanda Diamond League tour...

In Doha, former Pullman resident Katie Nageotte (photo courtesy Wanda Diamond League) won the pole vault in the season's second Wanda Diamond League stop, clearing a winning height of 15-10.5 (4.84m) Friday.

Nageotte, who cleared a personal best 16-2 (4.93m) on May 23rd in a low-key meet in Marietta, Georgia, cleared four straight heights on her first attempt, before ending the competition with three misses at 16-0.75 (4.90m).

Runner-up Sandi Morris finished second with the same height, but Nageotte got the win on fewer misses, as Morris needed two attempts to clear 15-10.5 (4.84m).

She told the pool reporters afterwards, "You can expect anything in pole vault, I was ready to come in and jump. I wasn't sure i was gonna win, but I knew I was ready, I'm happy for that, I think i did pretty good tonight. I always try to stay humble and give my best."

Federal Way HS grad Hannah Cunliffe finished fifth in the women's 100 meters, running 11.22.
