Both UW squads stay in top 25 in USTFCCCA pre-championship indoor rating index...

NEW ORLEANS--Both University of Washington indoor track and field squads remain in the final pre-championship rankings index published by the USTFCCCA Monday.

The rankings reflect the number of actual entries each school has in the NCAA track and field championship meet that begins Friday March 11th and ends the next day in Birmingham, Alabama. and is considered by the USTFCCCA as its team preview of the meet.

The Washington men dropped seven spots from last week and are ranked number 24 in the national indoor index, led by its number one ranked distance medley relay team that includes NCAA & US Olympic Trials 400 hurdles qualifier Cass Elliott (Paul Merca photo), who is projected to run the 800 leg, 

Brian Fay is ranked number 8 in the 5000, and Jayden White is ranked number 7 in the 35-pound weight throw.

Heading into the NCAA championships, the top five teams are in order: Arkansas, Georgia, Texas Tech, Oregon, and North Carolina A&T.

Pac-12 teams in the top 25 include number 17 USC, and number 20 Stanford.

The Husky women remain at number 17, led by milers Anna Gibson and Madison Heisterman, who are ranked number 4 & 7 going into the NCAAs. Their distance medley relay team is ranked number 7, and 5000 meter runner Haley Herberg is ranked number 12.

Going into the NCAA championships, the nation's top five teams are in order: Florida, Arkansas, Texas, LSU & Kentucky.

Pac-12 teams in the top 25 include number 11 Oregon, number 18 Colorado, number 19 USC and number 24 Stanford.
