UW men ranked number 9 in initial USTFCCCA National Rating Index...
NEW ORLEANS--The University of Washington men's track & field team is ranked number nine in the first NCAA Division I Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index for the 2022 season.
Only marks from the current season are being used, which gives a comprehensive, objective look at which teams have stood out in the early goings.
After competing at the adidas Raleigh Relays in North Carolina last week, the Dawgs had eight marks that are currently in the Division I top 20 according to the TFRRS national descending order list.
Five of those marks came in the 1500, 5000, and 10000, led by Isaac Green's (Paul Merca photo) 13:40.20 in the 5000 meters, which leads Division I.
In that same race, Luke Houser's time of 13:48.48 ranks number 5 in D1.
The 10000 saw Brian Fay's school record time of 28:22.31 and Kieran Lumb's 28:25.93 rank numbers 4 and 8 on the D1 descending order list.
Freshman Nathan Green's 3:41.37 in the 1500 ranks number 7.
The nation's top five men's teams are in order: Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M, USC, and Texas Tech.
Pac-12 teams in the top 25 include number 7 Arizona State, number 18 Cal, and number 25 Oregon.
Led by Anna Gibson's 4:13.31 in the 1500 meters and Ida Eikeng's javelin throw of 182-4 (55.56m) in Raleigh, the Washington women's squad enters the national women’s outdoor track & field national rating index at number 25.
Gibson's time is the second fastest time in Division I, while Eikeng's throw stands fourth in NCAA D1 after last weekend's meets.
Haley Herberg (34:03.10) and Andrea Markezich (34:05.64) are currently number 14 and 16 on the Division I descending order list in the 10000 meters.
The nation's top five women's teams are in order: Texas, Texas Tech, LSU, Texas A&M, and Florida.
Pac-12 teams in the national top 25 include number 7 Oregon, number 9 USC, number 18 Arizona, and number 20 Cal.

NELSON NAMED BIG SKY WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK...
After a school record performance in the heptathlon, Eastern Washington University's Maggie Nelson was named the Big Sky Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office Monday.
In the first multi-event of the outdoor season at the Buc Scoring Invitational (March 24-25), Nelson cruised to victory in the heptathlon. The senior totaled 5,130 points to set a new Eastern Washington school record, becoming the first Eagle to ever score more than 5,000 points in the event.
She also tossed a new personal best in the javelin with a mark of 158-8 (48.37m) which is seventh all-time in EWU history.
