BELGRADE, Serbia--Lake Washington HS graduate Dillon Maggard (Paul Merca photo) and University of Washington volunteer coach Sam Prakel both earned identical ninth place finishes in the men's 3000 and 1500 meter races on the final day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Sunday at Štark Arena.

Maggard, currently a volunteer coach at his college alma mater, Utah State University, finished with a personal best time of 7:46.18, as Selemon Barega of Ethiopia won in a time of 7:41.38.

Prakel ran a season best 3:38.40, as Ethiopia's Samuel Tefera defended his world title in a championship meet record 3:32.77, defeating Norway's reigning Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway, who ran 3:33.02.

In the qualifying heat of the men's 4 x 400 relay, Isaiah Harris of the Brooks Beasts anchored the team to a second place finish in 3:09.11, splitting 48.09, despite an apparent right hamstring injury suffered on the last lap.
