TACOMA--
The 2022 outdoor track and field season in the state of Washington got underway on a cool yet sunny day at Baker Stadium on the campus of the University of Puget Sound Saturday, as the school hosted the Ed Boitano Invitational.

While the field was primarily Division III and community college competition, a few athletes from both Western Washington, Saint Martin's and Seattle Pacific mixed it up.

The best mark from Saturday's competition came from the field, as Amanda Short (Paul Merca photo) from Western Washington rifled the javelin 141-11 (43.26m) for the second furthest throw in Division II so far this season.

In Friday's competition, University of Puget Sound cross country All-American Colin Monaghan ran the fastest time in NCAA Division III so far this season in the men's 10000, winning in a personal best 29:52.78.
