MAURIE PLANT AND THE TEN HIGHLIGHT PRO ACTION...

On the pro scene, the two big meets this weekend are the Maurie Plant Meet in Melbourne, Australia Saturday evening (1 am Saturday Pacific time), and The Ten Saturday evening in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Washington alums Izzi Batt-Doyle (w3000), Brian Fay (m5000) and Eleanor Fulton (w1500) are competing in Melbourne, along with former Husky Sam Tanner (m1500) and current Husky Sophie O'Sullivan (w1500).

The Maurie Plant Meet is a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meet featuring a bevy of Australia's top talent, including numerous Olympic and world championships competitors.

The meet will be live streamed on Flotrack ($) in the USA, and via the World Athletics Inside Track page in select countries around the world.

For distance fans, former Brooks sports marketing head Jesse Williams and Sound Running will stage The Ten at JSerra High School.

In three short years, The Ten has seen over a dozen national records and both American Records. The final race of the 2023 Ten made history as Eilish McColgan ran a British Record, Alicia Monson bettered the American record by 10 seconds, and Laura Galvan took down another Mexican record.

With very few quality 10000 meter track races, the meet is set up with the intent of getting competitors a shot at the world championship qualifying standard of 27:00.00 for men, and 30:20.00 for women.

Allie Buchalski of the Brooks Beasts and former Beast Jessica McClain are in the top section of the women's 10000, while former Beast Allie Ostrander is in the second section.
