Huskies remain in USTFCCCA top ten after conference weekend; Central lone Washington school in D2 top 25...

After the conclusion of conference championship weekend around the country this past weekend, both University of Washington squads slipped slightly in the penultimate USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Ranking Index released Tuesday.

The Washington men dropped one spot to number 7, while the Washington women dropped one spot to number 9.

The only top ten marks recorded at the Big Ten Championships by either UW teams came in the women's pole vault, where Amanda Moll (UW Athletics photo) extended her collegiate record for the second meet in a row, clearing 16-1.25 (4.91m) to take the victory, while twin sister Hana cleared a personal best 15-9.25 (4.81m), while attaining the standard for the world championships in September in Tokyo.

The top five men's teams in this week's index are in order: Arkansas, USC, Texas A&M, North Carolina, and Texas Tech.

Big Ten teams in the men's top 25 include number 12 Illinois, number 22 Nebraska, and number 23 Penn State.

The women's top five are in order: Arkansas, Oregon, BYU, Georgia, and Texas Tech.

Other Big Ten women's teams in the top 25 include number 6 Illinois, number 11 USC, and number 18 Nebraska.

There will be one more ranking index released next week, which will factor in only those individuals entered in the NCAA championships.


DIVISION II INDEX AND ACCEPTED ENTRIES FOR NCAA CHAMPS IN INDIANAPOLIS...

The Central Washington women's team is the only Washington school ranked in the top 25 in either men's or women's USTFCCCA NCAA Division II rating index, coming in at number 17.

The only top ten mark from their last competition came from pole vaulter Lauryn McGough, who cleared 13-4.5 (4.08m) at the GNAC championships.

The only women's team ranked from the GNAC is Simon Fraser, which moved five spots to number 10.

The top five Division II women's teams are in order: Minnesota State, Pittsburg State, Grand Valley State, Adams State, and West Texas A&M.

In the men's rankings, only Alaska Anchorage at number 18 is representing the GNAC in the national top 25.

The nation's top five men's teams are in order: Pittsburg State, Grand Valley State, West Texas A&M, Colorado School of Mines, and Wingate. 


Also Tuesday, the NCAA announced the accepted entries for next week's Division II championships in Indianapolis.

Annika Esvelt of Seattle Pacific is the Falcons' lone accepted entry in the women's 5000 and 3000.

For Western Washington, Bec Bennett in the 400, and Kora Cook in the high jump are their accepted women's individual entries. Their distance medley relay comprising of Bennett, Ila Davis, Emmy Kroontje, and Sophie Wright were among the nation's top 18 teams.

Kevin McDermott will be the lone men's entry for the Vikings, in the 3000.

Central Washington has three men's entries: Johan Correa in the 800; Bautista Diamante in the 200; and Isaiah Webster in the triple jump.

The Wildcats have three women's entries in five events going to Indianapolis: E'lexis Hollis in the 60 and 200 meters; Emy Ntekpere in the high jump and triple jump; and, Lauryn McGough in the pole vault.

The top 18 individuals were accepted into the meet, while the top twelve relay teams were accepted. In the pentathlon and heptathlon, only the top sixteen marks were accepted to the meet.
