Zags take men's team title at Whitman Open...

In Walla Walla, the Gonzaga men placed their five scorers in the top twelve to take a 28-43 win over second place Montana at the Whitman Open at the Veterans Memorial Golf Course Saturday.

Gonzaga's Dylan Weniger, competing unattached was the winner of the 8k race in a time of 24:15, while Samy Anderson (Gonzaga Athletics photo) led the Zag scorers with his second place finish in 24:20.

Jacob Alfonso in fifth (24:33), Ansel Tucker in ninth (24:49), Luke Alfonso in tenth (24:51), and Hayden Roberts in 12th (25:05) were the Zags' other scorers, as they had a 45 second 1-5 split.

In the women's 6k, Eastern didn't run a full team. Their three runners were Ifechi Okoye in eighth in 23:15, followed by Hannah Lee in 12th in 23:24, and Brooke Henkin in 15th in 23:45.


In Salem, Azalea Groleau was SeattleU's top finisher at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational Saturday.

Groleau was seventh over the 5k course, which she covered in 17:24, as Hawaii's Lucy Milliner won in 16:46.

The Redhawks finished eighth in the 28 team field with 195 points, as UC Santa Barbara won with 68 points.

In the men's 8k, Roman Radecki was SeattleU's top finisher in 42nd, running 24:58.

Portland's Eliason Kabasenche was the winner, running 23:40.

The Pilots put four runners inside the top eight to easily take the team title with 27 points. 

Seattle University finished 15th in the 31 team field with 434 points, just behind Spokane CC's 408 points.
