ANOTHER ROUGH GO FOR SEATTLEU IN SUNNYVALE...

Azalea Groleau's (Paul Merca photo) sixth place finish at the Santa Clara University Bronco Invitational at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale was the only positive on what was a dismal performance by both Seattle University teams Saturday.

Groleau ran the 6k course in 20:54, as Santa Clara's Milaina Almonte won in 20:07.

Behind Groleau was Annabelle Clapp in 79th in 22:26, Mira Danish in 86th in 22:31, Lydia Dale in 90th in 22:33, and Diana Camargo Solis in 92nd in 22:35.

UC Santa Barbara won the team title with 69 points. Host Santa Clara was second with 110 points.

In addition to Santa Clara, who Seattle University will see at the West Coast Conference championships in Spokane in two weeks, Pacific was seventh with 179, and Loyola Marymount was ninth with 228. St. Mary's was eleventh with 273, just ahead of San Francisco's 300 in 12th, one spot ahead of the Redhawks in the 16-team field.

It was even rougher for the SeattleU men in the 8k race, as they finished 14th in the 18-team field with 369 points.

Roman Radecki was the Redhawks' first runner across in 25:03, followed by Seku Sanders in 95th in 25:45. Daniel Barreto was 115th in 26:04, then it was Casey Miller and Alexzander Osorio in 128th and 129th in 26:22.

Zachary Parker of UC Santa Barbara was the individual winner in 23:43.

Long Beach State won the team title with 65 points.

Pacific was fourth with 127, and Santa Clara fifth with 127. San Francisco was tenth with 288, and SeattleU 14th with 369.  The only WCC school the Redhawks beat was St. Mary's in 16th in the 18-team field with 404.
