Brooks Beasts Sanu Jallow-Lockhart and Gary Martin make pro debuts at Nike Pre Classic...
EUGENE--In her debut as a pro and a member of the Seattle based Brooks Beasts, Sanu Jallow-Lockhart, (David Oh/Brooks Running) finished fourth in the women's 800 meters Saturday afternoon at the Nike Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Showing no fear, Jallow-Lockhart, the reigning NCAA 800m champ from Arkansas, tucked behind pacemaker Paris Peoples, who took the field through the first 400, crossing the mark in 53.58.
Jallow-Lockhart held the lead after the pacer moved off, but pre-race favorite Keely Hodgkinson of Great Britain took the lead at the 600 mark, and appeared headed to victory.
However, defending world champion Lillian Odira of Kenya edged into second coming off the final turn, turning on the jets to pass the Brit and take the win in a season best 1:56.19.
Hodgkinson held on for second in 1:56.73, while Addy Wiley passed Jallow-Lockhart for third in 1:57.70. Jallow-Lockhart, a 2024 Gambian Olympian finished fourth in 1:58.12.

In the final event of the day, the Bowerman Mile, fellow Brooks Beast and Virginia grad Gary Martin, who was entered in the meet before announcing his signing with the team, finished tenth in a personal best 3:48.76.
Australia's Cam Myers was victorious, as he ran an Oceanian record of 3:46.06, as the top seven finishers all went under 3:48.
In the women's steeplechase, Woodinville native Olivia Markezich finished 15th in 9:32.13, as Kenya's Faith Cherotich won in 8:51.74.
The Wanda Diamond League tour moves on to Monaco for the Herculis Meeting on Friday July 10th.
