THE WEEKEND AHEAD: Morton Games, Monaco Diamond League, Kortrijk & Sunset Tour...

DUBLIN, Ireland--
We are in Dublin for Friday night's Morton Games, which is Ireland's premier invitational track meet,.

The Morton Games will have a distinctively Washington feel, with ten athletes with UW ties entered in the meet.

Had a chance to catch up with both Thomas Diamond (Paul Merca photo) and Chloe Foerster as they did a shakeout run on the Morton Stadium track Thursday afternoon after racing in Cork the night before.

Both were in good spirits after getting their European summer tour underway and getting a race under their belts.

Among those entered in the Morton Games with Washington connections include Seattle resident and former UW volunteer coach Sam Prakel, alum Ronan McMahon-Staggs, and current Husky Diamond in the featured men's Morton Mile; Washington alum and Irish national record holder Brian Fay in the 5000; incoming UW freshman Saoirse Firzgerald in the women's 800; and alums Sophie O'Sullivan, Amina Maatoug, Julia David-Smith, and Foerster (Paul Merca photo) in the 1500.

O'Sullivan and Fay, who were both on Ireland's Olympic and world championships teams, are naturally getting a lot of publicity entering the meet.

For those of you in the USA, you can watch the Morton Games, which is a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meeting, starting at 10:30 am Pacific time on the European Athletics YouTube channel.

But wait, there's more action this weekend!

In Monaco, both current Huskies Amanda and Hana Moll, along with former Pullman resident and defending world champion Katie Moon are entered in the women's pole vault at the Meeting Herculis EBS Friday night, the tenth stop of the Wanda Diamond League tour.

They'll face a field that includes defending Olympic champion Nina Kennedy of Australia, Tina Sutej, formerly of Arkansas from Slovenia, France's Marie-Julie Bonnin, and Switzerland's Angelica Moser.

The Molls will look to earn their first Wanda Diamond League points of the season, after competing at last week's Nike Prefontaine Classic, where Hana tied for fourth and Amanda tied for sixth. The women's pole vault at Pre was not a Diamond League scored event.

Flotrack ($) will stream the Meeting Herculis EBS starting at 11 am Pacific time.

KORTRIJK AND LOS ANGELES CAP OFF BUSY WEEKEND...

Saturday in Kortrijk, Belgium, a small group of athletes are competing at the Moore Guldensporenmeeting Kortrijk.

Current Husky Reuben Reina, Jr., fresh off a victory in the mile in Cork on Wednesday, drops down in distance, as he'll race in the men's 800.

He'll face a field that includes Washington alum Justin O'Toole and Jackson HS grad Grant Grosvenor.

Former WSU sprinter Mason Lawyer is entered in the 200 meters, fresh off a win in the 100 meters on Tuesday at the Meeting Internacional de Barcelona, where he ran a meet record 10.07.

Mia Cochran, who raced Wednesday in Cork, is entered in the 800, as well as new alum Jenica Swartz.

Finally, a whole host of athletes, including twelve from the Seattle based Brooks Beasts, are entered in Saturday night's Sound Running Sunset Tour at Jack Kemp Stadium on the campus of Occidental College.

For the Beasts, their top entries include John Rivera and Brannon Kidder in the men's 800; Valery Tobias in the women's 800; Max Davies and Waleed Suliman in the men's 1500; Kayley DeLay and Teagan Schein-Becker in the women's 1500; and Parker Stokes in the men's steeplechase.

Washington alums Aaron Ahl and Rhys Hammond are entered in the mens' steeple and 1500, respectively.

Gonzaga alum Rosina Machu is entered in the women's 5000.

Flotrack ($) will stream the Sound Running Sunset Tour starting at 6:30 pm Pacific.
