CJ Allen is off to Monaco for Herculis Diamond League showdown against Warholm & dos Santos...

The Wanda Diamond League series continues on the road to the finals in Eugene in September with the Herculis Meeting International d'Athlétisme in Fontvieille, Monaco on Friday.

The Herculis meeting is annually one of the world's best one-day track meets in the world, and this year's edition is proving to be no exception, with names such as world record holders Karsten Warholm, Mondo Duplantis and Faith Kipyegon in the field.

Washington State alum CJ Allen (Paul Merca photo) is one of the men in the field looking to take down Warholm, the Norwegian who holds the world record in the 400 hurdles and is the defending Olympic champion.

Allen, who finished second at the Toyota USATF outdoor championships, will be lined up in lane 5 when the gun goes off shortly after 11 am Seattle time (8 pm local time), with Warholm on the outside in lane 7, with defending world champion Alison dos Santos of Brazil, running in his first 400 hurdles race of the season after suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee.

No other athletes with Washington ties are entered in the meet.

Peacock ($) is offering live streaming of the meet starting at 11 am Seattle time.

PRAKEL FIFTH IN LUZERN...

In Luzern, Switzerland Thursday, Washington volunteer coach Sam Prakel finished fifth in the 1500 meters at the Spitzen Leichtathletik meet.

Prakel ran 3:38.24, as Adel Mechaal of Spain took the win in 3:37.36 in a race that was set up for a sub 3:35, but none of the field went with the two pacemakers.

The Oregon alum, who finished fourth in the 1500 at the Toyota USATF championships, has the possibility of taking current Husky Joe Waskom's spot on the world championship team if Waskom finishes outside the top 56 in the final Road to Budapest rankings in the 1500 that releases August 2nd.

Prakel is ranked 23rd, while Waskom is ranked 48th.
