UW's Bruno Comin Pescador stands second at the break at Spanish decathlon championships...

In Torrent, Spain, just outside Valencia, Washington's Bruno Comin Pescador (Paul Merca photo) stands second after Friday's first day of competition in the decathlon at the Spanish national championships.

Comin Pescador started the day by running the 100 meters in 10.95, just off of his personal best of 10.91.

In the long jump, he went 23-0.75 (7.03m), then proceeded to win two consecutive events afterwards.

He won the shot put with a throw of 47-10.5 (14.59m), then took the high jump with a clearance of 6-9 (2.06m), both of which were personal bests.

Comin Pescador finished the first day with a clocking of 49.49, to pile up a first day score of 4155 points, 22 points behind the leader, Jorge Davila, who has 4177 at the break.
