Seven athletes with Washington ties named by USA Track & Field to NACAC squad...
INDIANAPOLIS--Seven athletes with Washington ties were announced Friday by USA Track & Field as part of the squad that will compete at the NACAC Championships August 19-21 at the Grand Bahama Sport Complex in Freeport, Grand Bahama.
The Washington contingent will be led by world championships javelin silver medalist Kara Winger from Vancouver.
Joining Winger on the women's side are University of Washington alums Eleanor Fulton (Paul Merca photo) and Katie Rainsberger.
Fulton is entered in the 5000 meters, while Rainsberger is in the 3000 steeplechase.
The men's squad features another Vancouver native in Dan Nehnevaj, as the world championships team member is entered in the 20k walk.
Oregon alum and world championships team member Johnny Gregorek, who spent the last several months being coached remotely from the East Coast by UW men's head coach Andy Powell, will run the 1500 meters.
Washington State alum CJ Allen is entered in the 400 hurdles
Lake Washington HS grad and Kirkland native Dillon Maggard is entered in the 10000 meters.
As this meet is one of the major regional championship meets around the world, athletes who win their event are considered as meeting the World Athletics qualifying standard for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
THE PODIUM ANNOUNCES ITS 2022-23 INDOOR SCHEDULE...
The Podium in Spokane announced its schedule of meets for the 2022-23 indoor track and field season.
The Spokane Invitational kicks off the indoor season on December 10th, followed by the Cougar Classic Invitational on January 13, 2023. The Podium also hosts the Spokane Indoor Challenge on January 13-14th.
February 2-4 is the date for the WSU Open and Combined Events, while the following weekend, Whitworth hosts its invitational.
The indoor season at The Podium finishes with three conference championship meets: the Mountain Pacific meet on February 17-18th; the Great Northwest Athletic Conference on February 20-21; and the Western Athletic Conference title meet on February 24-25th.
