Tanner among trio entered in Monaco Diamond League stop Wednesday...

The Wanda Diamond League resumes Wednesday before it pauses for the European and NACAC Championships with the Herculis Meeting International d'Athletisme in Monaco, one of the top stops on the circuit.

Fresh off a huge personal best in the 1500 a few days ago at the Commonwealth Games, former Washington Husky Sam Tanner (Paul Merca photo) moves up in distance to 3000 meters.

Tanner's personal best at that distance is 7:54.16 set in the 2021 summer season in New Zealand.

He'll be in a field that includes Cornelius Kemboi of Kenya, who has the third fastest time in 2022 at 7:31.26, and Australia's Stewart McSweyn, who is number four in 2022 at 7:31.93.

Americans Paul Chelimo, Grant Fisher, Woody Kincaid, and Joe Klecker are also in the field.

Vancouver native Kara Winger is in the women's javelin field, as all three world championship medalists are entered, including world champ Kelsey-Lee Barber of Australia, and bronze medalist Haruka Kitaguchi of Japan, who won the Diamond League stop in Silasia, Poland Saturday.

Washington alum Gianna Woodruff of Panama, who was fourth in the 400 hurdles Monday at the István Gyulai meet in Hungary, comes back for another shot in her specialty. She'll face a field that includes world championship finalists Rushell Clayton of Jamaica and Anna Ryzhykova of Ukraine.

The start list for Wednesday's Herculis Meeting International d'Athletisme is available here.

Peacock airs the meet live from 11am-1 pm Pacific time Wednesday, and re-airs Saturday on CNBC.
