In Rovereto, Italy Tuesday night, Washington alum Eleanor Fulton (Paul Merca photo) scored a personal best over 3000 meters at the Palio Citta' Della Quercia meeting.
Fulton finished fourth in 8:44.54, besting her previous best of 8:45.14, set at the Nike Prefontaine Classic in May.
Nozomi Tanaka of Japan was the winner in 8:41.93.
Nia Akins of the Brooks Beasts finished third in the women's 800, running 1:59.32, and surpassing the world championship standard of 1:59.80.
Allie Wilson won the race in 1:58.53.
Washington alum Gianna Woodruff was third in the 400 hurdles, running 55.12 in a race won by Jamaica's Rushell Clayton in 53.75.
University of Washington volunteer coach Sam Prakel dropped down in distance to 800 meters and finished ninth in 1:48.28, in a race won by Great Britain's Kyle Langford in 1:44.49.
Under wet conditions in Luzern, Switzerland, Vancouver native Kara Winger finished third in the javelin at the Spitzer Leichathletik meeting Tuesday night.
Winger threw 188-0 (57.30m) as Liz Gleadle of Canada won with a best of 200-2 (61.03m).
This was the first meet this season that she hasn't thrown over 60 meters (196-10).

Even though the Western Washington cross country teams won't open the 2022 season until September 10th when they travel to Yakima for the Central Washington Invitational, the voters of the USTFCCCA Division II national poll picked both squads in the top 30 in the pre-season poll, released Tuesday.
The Viking women are ranked number 20 in the pre-season poll. They are one of two teams from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference nationally ranked.
Simon Fraser is the other team ranked, as the voters have them ranked number nine.
The nation's top five Division II teams in the pre-season poll are in order: Adams State, Grand Valley State, Augustana (South Dakota), Colorado School of Mines, and UC-Colorado Springs.
On the men's side, the Vikings are the only team from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference that's nationally ranked, as Western comes in at number 30.

The NCAA Division II cross country championships return to the Pacific Northwest on Friday December 2nd, as Seattle Pacific hosts the national championships at the Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place.
