Brooks Beasts' Brannon Kidder gets third at NACAC 800m...


FREEPORT, Grand Bahama--
Brannon Kidder (Paul Merca photo) of the Brooks Beasts finished third  in the men's 800 Saturday afternoon on day two of the three-day NACAC Track & Field Championships at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex, featuring national teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Kidder, who finished eighth at the Toyota USA Outdoor Championships in June, was second at the 400 mark, going through the halfway split in 52.64, as Handal Roman of St. Vincent & Grenadines charged to the front in 52.01.

US teammate Jonah Koech moved decisively to take the win in 1:45.87, while Kidder couldn't make up ground on Roban, who finished second in 1:47.03, with Kidder crossing the finish in 1:47.63.

In a tactical men's 5000, Portland alum Woody Kincaid of the Nike Bowerman TC took the win in 14:48.58.

Washington senior Kieran Lumb, running for Canada, hung with Kincaid until the last 200 meters, and finished third in 14:50.06, as his countryman Thomas Fafard caught him near the finish to take second in 14:49.91.

Vancouver native Daniel Nehnevaj was fifth in the men's 20k walk in 1:42:40.56, as José Eduardo Ortiz of Guatemala won in 1:26:21.08.

Washington alum and 2016 Puerto Rican Olympian Diamara Planell Cruz was seventh in the women's pole vault, clearing 12-9.5 (3.90m), as the USA's Alina McDonald won at 14-9.25 (4.50m).

The NACAC championships conclude Sunday, with Vancouver native and world championships javelin silver medalist Kara Winger throwing in her specialty at 5:00 pm local time (2:00 in Seattle).

Washington State alum CJ Allen, who had the fastest time in Friday's preliminary heats of 48.76, goes in the finals of the 400 hurdles at 3:35 pm local time (12:35 pm).

A pair of runners coached by UW men's head coach Andy Powell are in the 1500m field, as Oregon alum Johnny Gregorek goes for Team USA, and Husky senior Kieran Lumb is scheduled to double back after the 5000 for Team Canada at 4:35 pm local time (1:35 pm in Seattle).



WSU ALUM PAUL RYAN WINS FALMOUTH MILE...

In Falmouth, Massachusetts, Washington State alum Paul Ryan won the Falmouth Mile Saturday afternoon at the Falmouth High School track.

Ryan was near the front for the majority of the race, taking the lead with 600 meters to go, and held it through the finish, blasting a 56 second last lap to take the victory in a personal best 3:55.91.

David Ribich of the Brooks Beasts finished third in 3:56.68 as he made a late move with 250 to go, advancing from sixth to third.

In the women's race, Washington alum Katie Follett, a former winner of this race, finished ninth in 4:50.30.
