All nine Washington DI/DII schools head to greater Los Angeles for four meets...

If you're planning to hit the greater Los Angeles area the next four days to watch some track and field, there's a better than even chance you'll see groups from all nine Washington Division I and II schools at one of four venues around.

Scheduling what you want to watch might be tricky, but doable depending on your familiarity with the freeways in the greater Los Angeles area, and knowledge of the time schedules for all of the meets.

Instead of posting a photo of one of the featured athletes, we've gone ahead and posted a map of the greater Los Angeles area, with the logos of the four venues staging meets starting Wednesday.

Action gets underway in the multi events, as Washington's Ida Eikeng is entered in the elite section of the heptathlon that starts Wednesday morning, while Washington State's Lee Walburn, along with the Huskies' Ollie Thorner and Jami Schluter are in the collegiate section of the decathlon at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut.

Both the Huskies and the Cougars have sprinters, and jumpers plus some throwers at the Mt. SAC meet, which goes through Saturday.

A few miles north of Walnut is Azusa, where the Bryan Clay Invitational is staged starting Thursday through Saturday at Azusa Pacific University, where all nine Washington schools will have representatives at the meet. Teams who will compete solely at the Bryan Clay include Gonzaga, Central Washington and Seattle Pacific, while the remaining six schools will have primarily their middle and long distance runners in the field, as over the last few years, the Bryan Clay meet has had the reputation for staging fast races.

A group of pros from the Seattle area, led by US indoor champion and UW volunteer coach Sam Prakel, are entered at the Bryan Clay.

South and closer to the water is Long Beach, where Long Beach State hosts the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate meet on Thursday, and the two-day Beach Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Eastern Washington will have athletes in both meets, while Washington will have its throwers going to the Pacific Intercollegiate on Thursday. Saint Martin's and Western Washington will attend the Pacific Intercollegiate. Western Washington will have a small contingent at the Beach Invitational, while Seattle University will have most of its team at the Beach Invitational.

Both Central Washington and Western Washington will have a small group at Thursday's Cal State LA Twilight meet on the campus of Cal State LA. Western's lone entry is discus thrower Katie Potts, while Central has Madison Thompson in the women's 400, Jack Pratapas in the men's 400, and Zack Sundt in the men's 400.
