Dawgs pick up three wins at Stanford; Wildcats with strong performance at Mike Fanelli Invite...


STANFORD, California--
On the final day of competition at the Stanford Invitational, Washington's field event specialists picked up three wins at Cobb Track & Angell Field on the Stanford University campus.

NCAA indoor qualifier Jacob Englar (Paul Merca photo) won the men's invitational pole vault, clearing 17-6.5 (5.35m).

Englar, who won the Pac-12 championship for Washington State last year,  had a bit of a hiccup at the lower heights, needing a minimum of two attempts at the three bars below his eventual winning height. He was the only one to clear 17-6.5 (5.35m).

Three-time NCAA All American Ida Eikeng won the collegiate section of the women's javelin with a toss of 156-5 (47.69m) in the fourth round, after taking the lead in round two, where she threw 146-0 (44.52m).

Tim Luebbert won the collegiate section of the men's triple jump with a fourth round leap of 49-5.5 (15.07m), which was just over the 2.0 meter per second allowable. His second best jump of 48-4.75 (14.75m) was wind-legal at the maximum allowable of 2.0 mps.

Sam Ellis finished fourth in the top section of the mens 800, running 1:49.70.

Washington State's Ronald Grueso Mosqquera highlighted the Cougars' day at Stanford, taking third in the men's invitational shot put at 62-10.5 (19.16m).

MIKE FANELLI INVITATIONAL

In San Francisco, athletes from Central Washington picked up three wins and had strong performances on the final day of competition at the Mike Fanelli Invitational hosted by San Francisco State University.

NCAA indoor qualifier E'Lexis Hollis won the women's 100 in 11.89. Teammate Juliette Williams finished fourth overall, winning her heat in 12.21.

The Wildcat women's 4 x 100 meter relay team won the race in 47.78.

The Wildcats placed three runners in the top eight in the men's 400 hurdles, led by overall winner Austin Albertin, who ran 54.49. Aiden Wise, who won the second section of the timed-final race, was fourth overall at 55.68, while Johan Correa was seventh overall at 57.04.

Correa came back an finished sixth overall in the men's 800, running 1:52.45 to win his heat.

NCAA indoor qualifier Lauryn Chandler was third in the 100 hurdles in 14.01, while Elise Hopper was fifth in the 400 hurdles in 65.22.

Idaho alum & Bellingham native Ben Doucette won the men's 110 hurdles in 13.88. 

Miguel Rosario of Seattle University won the men's 100 meters in 10.68, while teammate Taylor Marks was fourth overall in the women's 400 in 59.21.


In Forest Grove, Oregon, Central Washington's Erica Cabanos was a double winner at the Pacific Open meet, hosted by Pacific University.

Cabanos won both the women's long and triple jumps, jumping 16-3.75 (4.97m), and a wind-aided (+3.6) 36-8.25 (11.18m) in the triple jump.

Grace Twiss won the women's 400 hurdles in 65.70.
